One thing that I thought worked for me was using hand sanitizer to clean my brushes.. BIG mistake... made my brushes become stiff. Thankfully the MAC cleanser brought them back to the softness.

Hi Enkore - I have been cleaning my brushes with the Brush Cleanser (the one you provided the recipe for) as well as deep cleansing my brushes every two weeks. Recently I noticed that some of my brushes are becoming "crunchy".. is this because of the rubbing alcohol? Also, they feel very squeaky.. like they're becoming stiff. Any ideas? thanks :)

its a matter of preference, some rinse, some dont. I find that the cleanser is mostly water, really, so I find no need to rinse futher.

add a little more conditioner to your mixture. The alcohol shouldnt cause the stiffening

enkore! i have a question, first of all thanks for all of your tips, i used the brush cleaner i made, now the smell is this mostly from the dish soap? becuz it smells kinda funny andthe cleaner is stripping the color from my paint brushes. It that supposed to happen?
